No. In general UK costs are higher, especially in London, where they
can be excruciating. It depends a lot on what you are buying though.

You will find most (all?) Euro countries expensive due to the low
value of the $US at the moment.

No. In general UK costs are higher, especially in London, where they
can be excruciating. It depends a lot on what you are buying though.

You will find most (all?) Euro countries expensive due to the low

Are you asking if the exchange rate against the dollar is the same for
the pound as for the Euro? It isn't. See e.g.,
http://finance.yahoo.com/currency for details.

As others have mentioned, after accounting for exchange rates the UK
level of general prices is much higher than in the rest of Europe or
the US. For many goods and services the cost in pounds is numerically
quite close to the typical US cost in dollars for those same goods and
services. A recommended practice is to delude yourself into thinking
that pounds are dollars; otherwise, you are likely to be so horrified
at the general level of prices in the UK that it may put a damper on
your trip.
