I posted a general message to the group, but saw your posting and
thought I would let you know that I was at a vacation cabin in Murphy,
NC (it sleeps 6) that was GREAT!!!! It has satellite with local TV,
stereo, VCR/DVD, two bedrooms, queen sleeper sofa and two bathrooms,
plus all linen was provided to me and my party. Full kitchen with
dishes, utensils, and everything you would need, but the food. Local
phone service and answering machine (a lot of cabins do not have
this)....you can view it at: www.VRBO.com/1267....hope it helps...take
care, T

I guess it depends on how big a place you need.

We used the Von Bryan Inn, in Wears Valley, about half way across 321 from
Townsend to Gatlinburg. Twice now. We got a cabin (read: house with view),
and took up a few rooms in the main house, handled 2/3 meals ourselves. That
worked for about 15 people. The view was incredible, breakfasts were great,
etc.

During my research, I ran into a few other places, suggested to me by the
Townsend tourist folks. One was a church retreat (sorry, can't remember the
name, but I'm sure the tourist office can help you)-- lots of rooms
(probably holds 25-30) and swimming pool. Good view. Only problem was -- no
alcohol. No deal for my family :-)

Think about how much noise you'll make. Many of the cabins in the hills
above Gatlinburg are piled on top of each other. If you want something more
private, go toward Townsend.
Good luck,

Sarah
