thanks sarah, i'll check them out.
we will have 7 families to total about 32
and i was thinking a large cabin and some nearby rooms so the von byron
sounds like it would work for us.
cheers

hi,

i am looking for a place to hold a family reunion near gatlinburg/pigeon
forge.

there are so many places its impossible to make any progress.

anyone have a reccomended spot?

I guess it depends on how big a place you need.

We used the Von Bryan Inn, in Wears Valley, about half way across 321 from
Townsend to Gatlinburg. Twice now. We got a cabin (read: house with view),
and took up a few rooms in the main house, handled 2/3 meals ourselves.
That worked for about 15 people. The view was incredible, breakfasts were
great, etc.

During my research, I ran into a few other places, suggested to me by the
Townsend tourist folks. One was a church retreat (sorry, can't remember
the name, but I'm sure the tourist office can help you)-- lots of rooms
(probably holds 25-30) and swimming pool. Good view. Only problem was --
no alcohol. No deal for my family :-)

Think about how much noise you'll make. Many of the cabins in the hills
above Gatlinburg are piled on top of each other. If you want something
more private, go toward Townsend.
Good luck,

Sarah

We held our family reunion in Pigeon Forge this summer. We have a large
family and had about 40 people. We chose the Twin Mountain Inn & Suites
which is next to Twin Mountain Outdoor Resort (campground) directly on
the river and 1 block off the parkway. It was nice. THere was a big
side yard to gather in. The kids loved tubing and playing in the river.
Those who prefered to camp were just steps away from the hotel. The
trolley stopped in front of the hotel. Check out their web site
www.twinmountaininn.com

My other choice would have been the mainstay suites in pigeon forge
because they had a big covered pavillon with BBQ pits, horseshoes, and a
giant pool. It is further north and a litte more off the parkway, but,
the web site looked nice. There was no nearby campground so we had to
find another place.
