Default Visa for Russia

Hallo.
I am planning to travel from Tallin through St. Petersburg to Helsinki this
September. My stay in Russia shall be three or four days. On the Web site
of the Russian embassy, I read that an invitation of a private person or of
an organisation is required for a visa. Does anybody know how one can get
such an invitation?
As I want to stay in St. Petersburg in a hostel or in a budget hotel, I am
also interested in any information on cheap accomodations in St. Petersburg.

The "invitation" otherwise known as Visa Support can be had at
http://www.visatorussia.com/russianvisa.nsf/step1.html among others.
Depending on your urgency they can get you the "invitation" online for
$30-$45 USD. Then the process is to fill out the Visa application form and
mail that with your US passport to one of the Russian embassys. Colorado is
in the San Francisco domain so we sent our materials there. They also have
rates for expedited service but I chose to mail it overnight enclosing the
same overnight rate envelope for speedy return. The process took about 8
business days which is pretty good in that they claim it will not be done
any earlier than 6 days non expedited. Good luck, s

I will also recommend this company. They're very professional, even if
not the cheapest.
