Quote from "lopburi3":

"Believe you are talking about Permanent Residence (PR) and the details
for that are linked to from the pinned item at the top of the forum. But
no, you do not pay 20,000 baht and get it. Those on retirement don't get
it at all."

And he was even selling this as the "most common vehicle"!! LMAO!!

The typical smiling idiotic blind daydreaming Thai apologist.

Go to www.thaiembdc.org and search on "How to Apply for Permanent
Residence Permit"

Here's a quote under "WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT
RESIDENCE":

"A foreign whose purpose of stay in Thailand is for business or
employment purpose ; investment purpose ; experts or academician
purpose ; *---supporting a family who are Thai citizens---* ; being
dependent of a husband or father who is a Thai citizen ; being
accompanied a husband, father, or son/daughter who already has a
residence permit ; and *---retirement---* (aged 60 years old or over
and net monthly income no less than 30,000 baht)."

Read the link.
For a Permanent Residency, the first requirement is to be able to speak
and
understand the Thai language.
No mention of this on that link.
Just show the 800,000 Batsky, and you can join the party.

Speaking and understanding Thai is one of the requirements for
"citizenship". There is a difference.

DETAILED INFORMATION NEEDED FOR RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATIONS (BY YEARLY
QUOTA PER NATIONALITY)

"The applicants and those who get involved with the applications will get an
appointment card to come for an interview with the immigration officers.
The interview includes the test of the understanding of Thai language:
speaking and listening (the applicants must come for the interview on the
date of appointment; otherwise, without an appropriate reason, it will be
automatically taken into the consideration that they cancel the
applications.) "
