Default No safe on Majesty of the Seas?

I will be sailing on the Majesty of the Seas, inside cabin, and I think
I read that there is not going to be a room safe in the cabin! I just
can't believe it! Can any of you folks with experience in cabins
without safes tell me how you handled your valuables (passports, casino
chips, money, credit cards, jewelry, etc.)? I am sure there is a main
ship safe, but I can imagine that every time I want something I have to
go to the purser's desk!

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I take no jewelry of value, and carry money, credit cards with me. I put
passports in a drawer, under things, and keep a copy in a separate place. I
don't worry about Casino chips, because I don't keep a lot around at a time.

Ditto.

I don't take ANY jewelry except my watch (Timex) and a plain generic
gold wedding ring which I wear. (I put my engagement ring, my real
wedding ring, and other valuable jewelry in the safe deposit box at
the bank.).

I am not worried about my passport being stolen when I'm aboard and
for Canadians, the cruise ship confiscated their passports when the
boarded, so that problem didn't come up for them. I keep my passport
in a neck pouch which I wear when off the ship, along with one credit
card and such money as I want to carry. I don't bring more than two
credit cards.

I don't gamble so I don't have Casino chips.

The really valuable stuff I have are my cameras (which I mostly wear
all the time) and my laptop. Nothing else (other than my passport)
that could be stolen would really matter to me.

Inside rooms on Majesty and Sovereign are a whopping 119 sq. ft.

That is not much bigger than the safe itself. 8-)

There are individual safes at the Purser's desk.

Are you sure about this? I sailed on the Monarch a couple of years ago,
which is older than the Majesty, and there were room safes. Your source
may be incorrect.

Hello Chinya -

While I have to agree with most of the people that have shared opinions
- it is always best to bring as little as possible, I also wanted to
provide you with more information to give you confidence about keeping
your things secure.

Most of the cabins on the Majesty do not have safes, but the following
category types offer a safe in the cabin: Staterooms: SO (Superior
Ocean View), JS (Junior Ocean View Suite), GS (Grand Ocean View Suite),
OS (Owner's Suite), RS (Royal Suite)

Another option would be a free safety deposit box - they are located at
the Guest Relations/Purser's Desk.

Hope this helps.

I sailed her in an outside Promenade cabin, and I KNOW there was a
safe. We used my friend's birthday as a PIN and I had a hard time
remembering it.
