417 arrested by the Thai GESTAPO
417 suspects detained under the Emergency Decree
Nereita Tancharoen BANGKOK, 10 June 2010 (NNT) The Royal Thai Police has revealed the names of 417 suspects being detained for violating the Emergency Decree. Based on the name list, 417 had violated the Emergency Decree BE 2548 being activated in Bangkok and other provinces following the prolonged rally of the anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship. A total of 211 people were arrested for violating the Emergency Decree in Bangkok, while 80 people were arrested in the northeastern Udon Thani province, 29 people were arrested in the northeastern Ubon Ratchathani province, 18 people were arrested in the central Ayutthaya province and 14 people were arrested in the central Pathum Thani Province. Apart from elaborating the name of 417 suspects, the list also mentioned their detention sites and the name of inquiry officials responsible to account. Rule number one is that the family should get NO information about their relatives. They should not even be sure they were taken by the security forces.
