Default Travel from Tikal to Palenque

Hi all,

Any ideas of how to get to Palenque from Tikal. Is it easier to do in
a day? Suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks

according to Lonely Planet there are 3 different routes from Tikal to
Palenque

as far as I remember all of them involve crossing of a river and /closed or
non existent border crossings

I haven't done it, but I've gone from Palenque to the Usumacinta river
a number of times. My understanding is that most folks take a bus or combi
to Frontera, cross the river there and continue on by bus and combi. I
highly recommend seeing the ruins of Bonampak and Yaxchilan while you're in
that area, which would probably mean that your best bet would be to stay on
the Mexican side that night and cross early the next morning. If you aren't
seeing the ruins you can zip right through there. Any tour company in
Palenque can make all the arrangements for you except for what happens after
you cross the border.
