Going to Wal-Mart while in Port

A friend of mine who lives not far from you has said the same thing
about Wal-Mart. She loves the store and does a lot of shopping there.
The Wal-Marts I have been in here in New Jersey, are so bad and
disgusting that I don't go there much. When I do have to go there, I
feel like screaming "get me out of here". I avoid Mal-Mart if it is at
all possible.

Whoa! I'm no champion of Wal-Mart. But, I gotta say that the one in
Springfield off US Route 22 E is spotless and quite frankly has better
floor help then the nearby Target. However, I was shocked to learn
recently that they contracted-out to a cleaning firm that used under
payed undocumented workers.

While I agree with the consensus that exploiting illegals is bad, I
gotta say they did one hell of a job keeping the place clean.

Wal-mart has had image problems since Sam Walton founded the chain,
That is nothing new. What I find truly amazing is that the O.P. would
waste time scoping out the local Wal-mart. Embarkation port citys and
ports of call offer so much to see and do. If I want to look inside a
Wal-Mart, I can do that at home.

Well I'm the O.P. and I live here so I go to Wal-Mart as do all the
other locals. I was more interested in way someone on a cruise would
waste time going to Wal-Mart.

Thankfully there is no Wal-Mart near me. Maybe 20 minutes away is the
closest one and I sure as hell wouldn't go out of my way to shop at one.
Wal-Mart once tried to build one not too far from my current house and the
neighborhood coalition would not have it. Smart people. Instead we have an
upscale outdoor shopping center with a Banana Republic, Bombay, Barnes &
Noble, etc. Target is only a 1/2 mile away and there are no problems. It's
a beautiful store. It seems Wal-Mart builds (at least in Atlanta) in the
lower income areas (where they have little retaliation). When they try to
build anywhere half way decent they get bombarded with angry protesters and
political roadblocks. I've found a world of difference between Target and
Wal-Mart, although both stores are targeted at the budget consumer.

Yeah, we buy a lot of stuff online. We have a Costco here, who's
political views I like much more, if I can get it at Costco I do. For
a lot of computer stuff and electronics you have to order it online.
UPS and FedEx know our house pretty well.
