You could go to a movie premiere...
http://www.seeing-stars.com/Calendar...html#premieres
The best one's are in Westwood because they are not so crowded (compared
to the premieres in Hollywood). Westwood is a district in West Los
Angeles. There is a Tom Cruise movie premiere on Dec. 1st. Just get
there two hours early and you will see him easily. He may even sign
something if you bring it. You won't be able to go inside the theatre
to actually see the movie but you will be able to watch the arrivals.
When you get there, look for the paparazzi (ie. those guys with tons of
camera equipment) and stand next to them. They know where to stand to
get the best view.
If you want to go to a nightclub...

Clubs in L.A. are often hard to get into. Certainly not all, but if a
club is "hot", the doorman will only let a person in if he thinks he/she
"fits" the look of the club. The above website has a weekly mailing and
you can subscribe to it. He will tell you how to get on the VIP list
for several clubs.
And just take a look at:
http://www.seeing-stars.com
for lost of general info.

Can anyone suggest places that I should visit to get a taste of the

Walk, the film studio tours, the entertainment museum, the museum of TV and
radio all on the agenda but I wondered if there was anywhere else that I
should add to the list?

Very good suggestions. There is also a company that pulls the police
filming permits for location screening, then they sell a calender and a
map... sorry I don't know the name.

FYI, Mann's Chinese is (once again) GRAUMAN'S Chinese.
