Default Just back from the Caribbean Princess

The ship is a beauty and very tastefully decorated ..The colors calm and
cool ; predominately coral, aquamarine and pale gold..Very clean .Service
was very good..Food was excellent, second only to the Carnival Conquest,
last November on the Sleazy3..
The crew was international and very enjoyable..I was pleased that each
member from Thailand and the tsunami areas that I spoke to, told me that
their families were okay and they were very touched that we asked about
them..

Only areas that seemed real crowded were the buffet at breakfast, the casino
and the shops on sea days..The only hot tub we used was in the Lotus Spa
area for adults only and never did I see it crowded while we were
there..Don't know about the other pools...Terrific gym..lots and lots of
equipment..never a time that a treadmill was not available for us..Very
large internet cafe, the computers were slow at times and I felt sorry for
the people who were not Platinum or Elite level...Cost me $124.(which was
deducted at the end of the cruise since I am a Platinum Member) just sending
messages to my family and friends!
The ship is VERY large! The Navigator of the Seas looked dwarfed docked next
to us in St. Maarten..The weather in St.Thomas and St. Maarten was
absolutely beautiful..breezy low-mid 80's or so.

Have not had a chance to read rtc, but while at the airport yesterday, we
saw many flights being cancelled that were going to Newark and Boston
because of the snow..hope that everyone affected is safe and warm with no
power outages!

Welcome home. Did you do traditional or PC dining? Did you try the alt.
restaurants? What did you think of the Movies under the Stars?

Thanks, Charles...
We did the traditional dining and switched to PC midstream and ate one night
in the Cafe Caribe..The Horizon Court is huge and used for all meals up
until 5:30PM.. Across the hall, to the left of the Horizon Court, is a
section called Cafe Caribe...For the evening meal, from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM,
they use the Cafe Caribe.. .The tables were covered with tablecloths,
silverware and crystal for the evening...The food was better in the Horizon
Court Buffet and Cafe Caribe than the dining room...I really should not say
that it was* better*, only that there was so much more variety in those
areas..At each end of the line, they had humongous bowls (about 24-30"in
diameter) that they kept filled with huge, deep red, at least 2-2-½"
strawberries that were the sweetest strawberries that I have ever eaten
(wonder where they were grown?) and they had the bowls filled with them at
all three meals...lots of papaya, cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon,
apricots, peaches, apples, grapes and bananas; not to mention the figs and
many others..They had a wonderful rice pudding with raisins, apple pastries
with vanilla sauce and I could go on and on.. Because the food was so good,
we did not go to the other alternatives offered...

The Movies under the Stars concept was unique..the movies shown were at
11:00AM and 1:00PM on port days and at 9,&11AM, and 1 and 5PM on sea
days..The movies shown were Finding Nemo, Grease, Shrek, Ice Age, Toy Story
and Ice, to name a few.. It was surprising that you could see the screen
quite well during the day...We did not stay and watch as we would have had
to sit in the sun and having seen Finding Nemo and Shrek with the
grandchildren, I did not care to see them again...I'll try and send you a
photo of the screen at the pool..Used my new digital camera that my son gave
me for Christmas so, I'll do my best sending it! ;-) Still a novice at this.

Welcome back Jean.

PS... Navigator is a fair amount bigger than Caribbean Princess. Caribbean
Princess is 116,000 tons, and Navigator is 137,000 tons.

Gee, Tom...only 10?? You got off easy! Here on Long Island, we got
about 18 inches!

Hard to believe I was sailing between St. Thomas and Fort Lauderdale
just a week earlier...

Not to mention 70' longer and 7' wider

Then why did the Navigator look so much smaller next to us?

Good Question! I was on the Navigator in November looking at the Caribbean
and though it was about the same size.

Did they do the sing-a-long Wizard Of Oz on the Caribbean Princess? Did they
also show more adult themed movies? I don't mean it like that lol. In the
evening on the Grand at I believe 7 and 9, they showed stuff like I, Robot
and other movies that adults would enjoy too. They even had at least one
night of adult only movie at 11pm. They played Rocky Horror Picture Show.
They also played a lot of random concerts. From Tina Turner to Beyonce.
Anything like that on your cruise? Or is that kind of stuff only on the
Grand?

Glad you enjoyed the cruise. We're thinking about trying the Caribbean
Princess and/or a Princess Panama Canal (not sure which ship) cruise in
2006.

We have 2 Princess cruises planned this year (both on the Grand) a Carnival
cruise and we're considering giving RCI a try for Halloween.

I thought the same thing about the Grand next to the Voyager. We were
anchored near the Voyager in Grand Cayman. When our tender went right in
front of the Voyager, I didn't think it was as large *looking* or as pretty
as the Grand... Of course, it might be the "my ship is better that you ship"
kinda thing lol.

Minor incovenience. And a lot lower than the 25 to 30 inch predicted.
