Florida Trip suggestions
Hi
I have just booked a fly/drive holiday to Orlando, 30th Sept to 7th October. We have booked the first night in a basic hotel, the Comfort Inn on I - Drive I want to go to Cape Canaveral, looks like I won't be able to see a launch so will just do the tour. It is our 30th wedding anniversary on Monday the 2nd October so would like to go for a very good meal or do something out of the ordinary, both would be perfect. We both enjoy theme parks but if we miss them it would not be a disaster although I have always wanted to go to EPCOT. A couple of Days on the beach would be nice. Apart from that we are open to suggestions An idea of what is a must would be greatly appreciated I certainly don't want to drive huge distances, being from the UK the distance from Orlando to Key West is almost the size of the whole UK - so you get the idea that I'm a wimp when it comes to driving american distances. BTW are the drivers in Florida as laid back as those in Seattle and Alaska Regards David |

I'm not familiar with restaurants in the other parts of the Orlando area, but there are some very nice ones at Disney World. For example, at Epcot, some of the best ones are Bistro de Paris at the French pavillion, Le Cellier at the Canadian pavillion, and Restaurant Marrakesh at the Moroccan pavilion. For a major anniversary, you might want to think about springing for dinner at Victoria & Albert's at the Grand Floridian. Or, if you don't want to spend that much, other excellent restaurants include Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, Flying Fish Cafe at the BoardWalk, Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian, and the California Grill at the Contemporary. Here's a good listing of table service restaurants at the WDW resorts, with links to menus: http://www.allearsnet.com/din/rest_gltable.htm All of those locations have great atmosphere and often some other benefits (e.g. animal viewing at AKL, Magic Kingdom fireworks from the Contemporary, etc.). If you have more specific questions about the restaurants at WDW, try the rec.arts.disney.parks newsgroup. Enjoy your trip! And let us know what you do about that anniversary dinner! Patty |

BTW are the drivers in Florida as laid back as those in Seattle and Alaska. South Florida is hectic, especially around rush-hours, and the drivers are what I would call "opportunistic." Give 'em an inch, and they'll take it. If you are facing a line of cars turning left in front of you, let 'em pass before proceeding. Central and North Florida has a slower pace and more genteel drivers. =R= |

It might make a nice out of the ordinary anniversary trip - flying to Key West for an overnight. If you don't have to worry about money, you could even take a seaplane to Ft. Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas. Go snorkeling there and you'll see sea tortoises and maybe even a dolphin or two. It's almost an all day trip which you can also do by high speed catamaran for less. Cape Air, Gulfstream / Continental Connection, American Eagle are some of the airlines that fly to Key West. -- ________ To email me, Edit "blog" from my email address. Brian M. There is a good restaurant on top of the contemporary hotel in wdw that
is very nice for dinner (the name escapes me something like California grill??), or the restaurants in the world showcase at epcot are very nice. My favorite is the English pub where you can sit outside next to the water. The beaches me and my wife goto are the Clearwater beaches, we have stayed in a condo on Indian rocks beach which has some nice places to eat within walking distance. I like the idea of flying to Key West Like the idea of the Sea plane Can't go snorkeling wife has asthma or on a high speed catamaran wife get sea sick on small boats but she would love the idea of sea tortoises and dolphins. Any suggestions avoiding the snorkeling but still seeing the sealife. I will check out the airlines Regards David |

I don't know whether Michelin does ratings in the U.S., but if they do, I'd expect their website to be the place to find them. I doubt they'd allow anyone else's website to publish their copyrighted information. Patty |

Key Largo has glass bottom boats that will take you over the reefs. Usually
quite calm water. "David" wrote in message k...
