Auto insurance for travel in the U.S. - please help
Folks,
I am looking for a bit of help. Hopefully someone out there has experience with this and can help. I have found some information by googling but still have questions. My situation is this. I am a U.S. citizen and a Greek citizen. I currently live in Greece and plan to visit the U.S. for about 6 months. I will be shipping over my vehice and need to know how I need to insure the vehicle. I understand that I can drive the vehicle in the U.S. for up to one year (without extensions) with the Greek plates and registration. Insurance with my Greek provider is not possible for the US. I have found temporary insurance plans for coverage in the US which is intended for foreign citizens. What is my best approach here? Do I just give my Greek citizenship/Greek passport and ignore my US citizenship? Or, is it possible to obtain insurance from a standard insurer as a US citizen for a foreign registered vehicle? I would like to fully insure the vehicle (ie: full coverage). If anyone can give some pointers or direct me to further information I would be very greatful. Thank you, Jason |
