It makes sense for London. But Barcelona is not nearly as big as London. If I want to go to Barcelona I want to go to Barcelona not Girona. Good for you, I'm not so fussy, and am presumably more sensitive to price. Jim. |

If you are going to Barcelona then Girona is not convenient. That's the point. So if London traffic gets worse will Madrid eventually quality as Barcelona? It makes sense for London. But Barcelona is not nearly as big as London. If I want to go to Barcelona I want to go to Barcelona not Girona. Good for you, I'm not so fussy, and am presumably more sensitive to price. Nobody is trying to dissuade you from flying to Girona to save money. No, my point has always been that it's travelling time, not location that makes it reasonable to say an airport serves a location. Nobody is trying to dissuade you from flying to Girona to save money. Just that Girona isn't Barcelona. No, just like Crawley and Luton aren't London, they are airports handy for London, just like Girona is an airport handy for Barcelona. Jim. |

Yes, but you're comparing a city like Barcelona where, from BCN, it's very easy and quick to get to the centre of the city, by train or bus, and taxi is a lot cheaper than from Girona. No one would argue that any airport in London is well served to everywhere _in_ that city, but there's a significant difference in terms of size. Nobody is trying to dissuade you from flying to Girona to save money. Just that Girona isn't Barcelona. No, just like Crawley and Luton aren't London, they are airports handy for London, just like Girona is an airport handy for Barcelona. When I lived in London, that meant Gatwick, which was only about a 45 minute train ride. To get to Heathrow was a good 90 minutes by either tube or taxi. With Ryanair's alternative airports, they are often serving cities by flying to airports which no one prior to Ryanair purported to serve that city. I might be wrong, but I can't think of anywhere you'd live _in_ Barcelona that would make Girona more convenient. How could it? Most visitors to Barcelona from the UK are presumably staying in Barcelona- for the lucky few staying in Girona- good for them. I think a better equivalent would be if Ryanair flew to BHX from Girona and called it London (Birmingham.) Indeed, it's easier to get from BHX to London than it is to get from several of Ryanair's destinations to the city they purport to serve. No, my point has always been that it's travelling time, not location that makes it reasonable to say an airport serves a location. Then say Girona (for Barcelona). If you want to be an apologist for a con, go ahead. The airport is Girona. A simple fact *you* *alone* wont accept. End of conversation. -- Mike Reid "Art is the lie that reveals the truth" P.Picasso Walking-food-photos, Wasdale, Thames, London etc "http://www.fellwalk.co.uk" -- you can email us@ this site and same for Spain at "http://www.fell-walker.co.uk" -- dontuse@ all, it's a spamtrap |

No, that's not any good (you have to read every airport, and it doesn't appear where you expect - under B for barcelona. If you want to be an apologist for a con, go ahead. I'm not conned, I get distinct value out of their choice of naming. Jim. |
