From Los Angeles to San Francisco

It's about 425 miles from Pershing Square to Civic Center Plaza. You'd have to average 71mph meaning that you'd have to drive faster than 90mph. I don't believe you did. Care to try to convince me? It's 407 miles from my apartment to my destination in Woodland Hills. That's an average speed of 68 mph. I drive straight through, stopping only once for gas. Ah, this explains it. Woodland Hills is 25 miles and 30 to 90 minutes (depending on traffic) from downtown LA. "LA is a great big city" as the song goes, and Woodland Hills is on the very edge where 101 enters the city. The far edge of the city is about 50 miles from Woodland Hills, and from experience, can take 2 hours on a weekend. I consider the trip on US Highway 101 (about 425 miles) to be one of eight hours. And I consider it a little over 6 hours. I consider the trip on InterState Highway 5 (about 400 miles) to be one of a bit more than six and a half hours. __________________________________________________ __________ A San Franciscan in (where else?) Ah, this explains it. Woodland Hills is 25 miles and 30 to 90 minutes (depending on traffic) from downtown LA. In rush hour, it can take an hour (I used to commute from North Hollywood). Ninety minutes would be one heck of a traffic jam. "LA is a great big city" as the song goes, and Woodland Hills is on the very edge where 101 enters the city. The far edge of the city is about 50 miles from Woodland Hills, and from experience, can take 2 hours on a weekend. It depends on what you mean by "far edge." From Woodland Hills down to LAX, which is close to the city edge, is about 45 mintues with moderate traffic. I consider the trip on US Highway 101 (about 425 miles) to be one of eight hours. I always considered LAX in central LA. And for those thinking they hit LA city limits there in Woodland Hills, Disneyland is on the other side of Downey and Norwalk. It used to take me 30 minutes to get from North Hollywood to downtown, though I mostly used surface streets.
