A reasonable idea of what our modern cvilization requires for viability,
a modicum of common sense, and a minimal knowledge of human nature? Of
course, it's POSSIBLE that the dwindling of the fossil fuels upon which
our civilization depends (before alternatives could be found) might
cause a complete collapse of that civilization. (However, in the
absence of some unknown catastrophic factors, that seems unlikely.)

England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales are going car-free next week. The Isle
of Man is already car-free, as are Manchester, Birmingham, and central
London. The M25 is now used for a pedestrian walkway and sidewalk curry
stands.
