Default philly to princeton

Hi,

I will be attending a conference in Princeton in March, and am planning
to fly into Philly. How convenient is public transport from there to
princeton? I looked at the NJ transit website, and they seem to have
service into princeton, but not all the way from philly. they mention
something about SEPTA trains, but i couldn't find out too much about
that on the web.

Thanks for any info
Ritwik

Take SEPTA R1 line from Philly intl. airport and connect to R7 line (to
Trenton, NJ). I think the connection can be made at the 30th street
station (but check on this, don't take my word). From Trenton take NJ
Transit Northeast Corridor Line (bound for New York Penn Station) and get
off at Princeton Junction (5-6 stops, I think). From there a shuttle
(train) will take you to Princeton itself. (Of course, if cost is not a
factor I would just take a taxi from PHL to Princeton). See this site for
SEPTA route maps:

http://www.septa.org/parking_project/fullmap.html

Hope this helps.

Septa R1 from Airport to any Center City station (Market East, Suburban,
or 30th St.)
Septa R7 (make sure you get the Trenton branch) from Center City to Trenton.
NJ Transit Northeast Corridor from Trenton (usually the same track -
just walk forward) to Princeton Junction (2 stops)
Now, see where your conference really is. The Princeton address covers
an area all or part of 6 towns spread over 3 counties and 2 area codes.
If it's in the Hyatt, Doral Forrestal, or anywhere else on the Rt 1.
corridor, take a cab from Princeton Junction. If it's actually in
Princeton (i.e. the University), take the Dinky, a 1-car, 4 minute
NJTransit train that runs from Princeton Junction to downtown Princeton.
Total 1-way cost from PHL to Princeton Junction is about $15. Add
another $1.65, or so, for the Dinky. The theoretical minimum time is
about 90 minutes, but the R1 only runs every 30 minutes, and the R7 is
essentially hourly.

It will cost more (about $26, or less with AAA), but there's also an
Amtrak train from 30th Street station to Princton Junction. Could
save quite a bit of time if you have to try to coordinate the R7 with
the NJ Transit train.

I'd also ask your hotel about a shuttle service from PHL - it might
cost less than Amtrak and get you right to your hotel much more
quickly.

If it were me, I'd fly into Newark and then take the airporter shuttle
from EWR to one of the Princeton area stops. As much as I don't care
for EWR, I'd fly there to prevent a huge headache!

Enjoy your trip!

Fairly convenient. You would take one of SEPTA's regional lines to
Trenton, then take an NJ Transit rail line to Princeton. See
http://www.septa.org for the Philadelphia portion of your trip. I
believe SEPTA's R7 line goes to Trenton.
