I recommend taking the train:

Direct trains to Bratislava depart from the "Suedbahnhof" at 6:06 (De7),
8:15, 10:22, 12:22, 16:09, 16:15, 17:22, 19:22 (De56), 21:15.
Trains from Bratislava to Vienna: 5:00 (De67), 6:02 (De7), 6:12, 8:05,
12:50, 13:00, 15:07, 17:50, 19:07.
The train trip takes about 1:20.

From Dec. 14 the service will be improved and there will be 14 daily direct
trains in each direction.

There is a special discounted ticket for day trips Vienna - Bratislava. The
return trip costs EUR 16. Ask for the "Euregio - Ausflugsticket".

If it is running now

i would take the hydrofoil

the bus is in any case better than the train.
it takes about 1.30 minutes.

There's no such thing as duty free inside a country.

Tim

Thanks

STORE HOURS:

* Generally 8-6 (many with a 12:30 to 1:30 lunch break)
* Banks may close at 3:30
* Saturday, most stores close at 1 or 2
* Sunday a lot of foodstores are open, but they close at noon.
