Default Ronda from Seville ?

Hi !

Does anyone know if it's possible to make a day trip to Ronda from Seville,
either by train or bus ? Can't seem to find much from the RENFE website, but
I heard Ronda is a place that's too beautiful to miss !

Thanks

Too beautiful to miss may be a bit of an exaggeration. Unless you count
a lot of places as too beautiful to miss. I would put Toledo & Granada
as ahead of Ronda. That said, it is an interesting place. Has a great
restaurant as well -- Tragabuches just a bit away from the Parador. Any
town built across a chasm will be different. I enjoyed visiting. FFM

Yes, I've done it, but I remember getting up pretty early in the morning and
then coming back on the evening bus. This was quite a while ago, so I don't
recall the details. I'm sure the tourist office in Seville can fill you in,
though.

For a quicker "day trip" you could try Cordoba too. Only 40 minutes away
on the AVE!

Interesting perhaps, beautiful no. When I was there (in March) the
atmosphere was more like Niagara Falls than a "typical" hill village. Day
trippers from the Land of the Lager Louts (Costa de Sol) made up the
majority of visitors. Other choices may be Arcos de la Frontera, Grazalema,
Vejar de la Frontera or Zahara de la Sierra.

Huh? Opinions vary, but Cordoba has some of the best examples of moorish
architecture in a non-arab country. A lot of people consider it
beautiful. I certainly do.

There are trains from and to Granada.

See http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/hjhir03...=55007&D=05000

There are long-distance trains to Córdoba.

You can reach Ronda by train but it would take ages. Changing at Bobadilla
onto the line that runs through the hills past Ronda and eventually
finishing down on the coast at Algeciras. (This line was built 100 years
back by the enterprising Brits who wanted to spend some R&R from
Gibraltar......). The buses from Sevilla are possibly either through ones
that go to Malaga or Marbella or others. My latest timetable is on this page
(also includes Jerez) and you can see it takes 2 hours each way. Run by a
bus company called AMARILLOS.

Tourist office in Sevilla will guide you.
Here is the regional train map for Andalucia.

Sorry David for my ambiguous post. My comments were directed towards Ronda
not Cordoba. I agree with your comment.

The postcards of the bridge from deep in the gorge are remarkable, but that
is IT--and that particular view is not one that most people can even get to
on a day visit, anyway. Ronda is deceptively plain--beyond that one
better-seen-on-postcards view the town is not too enchanting, and can be
choked with tourists. I wouldn't blow a day trying to get there--but
driving through Arcos and Zahara with a rental car would make a fine day
trip--and if you made it as far as Ronda that would be a plus, but not an
incredible plus.
