Default hello from France

I just subscribed to this list as we are planning a trip to the USA and
Canada next year. I had a real chuckle at the debate over butter in
sandwiches, vbg. I have travelled a lot around Europe and lived in Canada
and as far as I know most countries put butter in their sandwiches. To me
that is what makes the sandwich. Otherwise it would be quite dry in my
opinion. It is a question of habit I think, like salted butter. When we came
to France 30 years ago and used unsalted butter it was tasteless. Now it is
easy to find but not then. I get funny looks even now from people brought up
in France when I use salty butte with jam, vbg.

I look forward to getting to know you all in the next months when I ask my
tons of questions :-))

Hugs from France,
Joanne
