Slightly OT - House sitters in Australia
Has anyone in Australia used house sitters to look after house + pets
while they were away ? If so, who did you find them through, and was the whole experience successful ? The friend who usually looks after my house is unable to and I am thinking of going through an agency. Thanks, Anne -- The privacy.net address is a spam trap. Please reply to |

Thanks, Anne I signed up with "Australian House Sitters" in 1999 for a year (there is a fee); they appeared reputable and they're still around. Unfortunately our timing didn't work out. See http://www.housesitters.com.au/main.php3 .. Nearly all house-sitting clients require you to take responsibility for animals. Cheers, Alan -- |

Slightly OT - House sitters in Australia
Yes we did. We went to NZ for 3 months earlier this year and used an
internet service. It worked out really well. We checked the sitters references and wrote out a contract and a very specific instruction manual on the garden, the pets and frequency of cleaning. Very happy with the whole arrangment. 3 months was too long to get a friend in and too short a period to rent the place out. Also we have 3 cats and a garden which requires care. Ideal for a house sitter. Regards, Jan. |

Thanks, Anne Hi, Just wanted to recommend www.housecarers.com even if I'm on the other end of things. We did two house&pet sits in Oz last Oct + Dec- Jan. It all worked out perfectly, a three week sit w/o bond or anything, and a 2 month sit bonded with payment of electricity + phone. Anette |
