No, they've been asking about ethnic origin for a very long time.

Can;t remember how I filled out the lats one but they used
to ask what yur "mother tongue" was.

They still do. Ethnic origin is on the long form, which is
distributed to 1 household in 5. Mother tongue is on both the
long and the short (which goes to the other 4 out of 5 homes)
forms.

that explains it all. I don't think I ever got the long form which is
the one that asks you about the no. of toilets

So do they multiply everything on the long form by 5 to get the official
statistics?
