Rosticceria in Florence?
What has happened to the little rosticcerie that used to be just about
everywhere in Italian cities? Years ago, when in Italy, we used to pick up a pollo arrosto anytime and take it back to the hotel for dinner. Last year we spent some time in an apartment in Florence and looked for such places, but we never found any. Have they gone out of style? Or were we just looking in all the wrong places? Specifically, next March we will again be staying in an apartment in central Florence, in the via della Rosa in the Santa Croce quarter. Does anyone know of a place near there where we might be able to get pollo arrosto to take out? Also, we are familiar with the Standa market in via Pietrapiana, but does anyone know of other supermarkets in central Florence? We have been told that there is a Coop, but we have not been able to locate one except in the suburbs of the city. Linda and Ron Fredericksburg, VA (Near Washington, DC) |

Rosticceria in Florence?

Or were we just looking in all the wrong places? sadly, most of the city centre is off-limits to the local residents due to exaggerate costs of the estates - no wonder that 'normal' shops tend to close, giving way to the more 'tourist-y' ones. can't think of supermarkets in your neighborhood other than the Standa you mentioned, but you should find a couple Rosticceria (deli) between Corso dei Tintori and Via dei Neri (which is the name of the streets that go from the left side of the National Library to the back of the Uffizi) or around Arco di San Piero (the small arch between Borgo degli Albizi and Via dell'Oriolo), or in Via Ghibellina. Some small Coop stores are said to be planned in the centre in the near future, but I don't know anything about their location. An even more interesting place - other than a rosticceria - would be the Sant'Ambrogio Market - go ahead on via Pietrapiana and make a right when the name changes into "Borgo la Croce". Lots of good Trattorie in that part of the city, too. Hope this helps, feel free to ask. qqg -- E' in corso la CFV per *it.lavoro.professioni.pubblicita*, Si puņ leggere il manifesto su news:it.news.annunci o news:it.news.votazioni |
