Default Karachi for the Tourist

I am planning a visit to Karachi, Pakistan and wonder what attractions there
are in or near Karachi. If near Karachi, it should be a day trip only.

Stay is about 4 to 5 days.

Check out LonelyPlanet Pakistan guide book. Oxford University Press also
has a very good Karachi guidebook sold in Karachi in their shopes. Cost
about
Rs300 and it is excellent.

Some specific attractions a

- Thatta - there is a beautiful mosque there as well as a very old royal
cemetary
- Bhanbhore - another archaelogical site
the above two are near each other and can be done as day trip

Within karachi:
quad-e-azam mausoleum - for the architecture
national museum - pretty good for archaelogy stuff
mohatta palace
shopping
food
some very nice beaches further off don't remember the names right now
but LP has them
(don't go to the beaches in karachi as they are polluted)

Let me know if you have any specific questions
