Default Connection time - HNL inter-island flight

Is 54 minutes sufficient connection time to make an interisland connection
at HNL? I will be arriving on a flight from LAX.

Depends on who you are arriving on and who your connection is with? But
generally an hour is enough time and, if you miss your connection, they have
inter-island flights going all the time, you can just catch the next flight
out.

54 mins should be sufficient, depending on which airline you are arriving
on. All inter-island flights from HNL to the outer islands depart from the
Inter-Island terminal, which generally require you to take the
inter-terminal shuttle (the Wiki Wiki bus). When you arrive, follow the
signs for the Wiki Wiki and head upstairs to the upper level of the
terminal. There you will see the Wiki Wiki stops. Once you arrive at the
Inter-Island terminal, if you're on Hawaiian, you might have a bit of a
longer walk, but as the prior poster noted, Hawaiian and Aloha both have
flights generally on the hour to the outer islands.

Also, get there as early as you can, as seating is Southwest-style, without
boarding cards. Everyone just lines up in an orderly manner in front of the
gate. Be careful if you're on Aloha though...the pitch is absolutely horrid
on those OLDD 737s. Hawaiian has mostly newed 717s. I remember flying
Aloha last year from Kona to HNL. That decrepit 737 looked so awful---there
were pieces of interior molding missing and hanging from the ceiling.

Best of luck, and enjoy the Hawaiian vacation!

I just did it last week myself.......getting in from LA on a Delta
flight and connecting on Aloha to Kauai. I had a little under an
hour and made it with plenty of time to spare.......I was even able to
stock up on those "This Week in Kauai" guides that give you all the
local deals and info. I just followed the signs to the Wiki Wiki bus
that drops you off at Aloha and Hawaiian; I probably didn't wait more
than 10 minutes for the tram to arrive and it was a very quick 4 or 5
minutes there.

Have fun! Hawaii is just Heaven on earth!
