Default Back To Back Cruise

I hope some one can help me.
We are doing a back to back cruise on the Carnival in Jan /05.
When we arrive back in Miami after the first cruise, do we have to get off
the ship and go though customs, then get back on the ship for the next
cruise?

My best suggestion would be to contact your travel agent. If they can't
get you an answer - contact Carnival. Have a great cruise!!

Default Back To Back Cruise

Our first back-to-back was in Alaska(Sept,03). We had 3 cruises, Vancouver
to Seward, Seward to Vancouver and Vancouver to LA.We had a great time. It
is always sad when a cruise ends and you have to pack and get off the ship.
For the first time, we didn't have to do that.In both Seward and Vancouver,
we came and went with the crew long before any passengers boarded. We took a
bus into Seward and wandered around town for a while. When we returned to the
terminal, we boarded with the crew

In Vancouver, we got off with the crew and checked out Canada Place and the
Pan Pacific Hotel and then boarded again with the crew.

We had one other back-to-back that didn't turn out as well. In March,04, we
did two 7-day cruises to Mexico on the Diamond Princess. Toward the end of
the first week, we got a notice that in-transit passengers(there were 6 of
us) had to go through customs per order of uncle Sam. We had to gather in
the casino at ten and wait for all other passengers to get off the ship,
which was after 11am. There was a long line at customs. After customs, we
had to go from the "get off the ship" terminal to the "get on the ship"
terminal. Passengers were not yet boarding, so they wouldn't let us board.
The man in charge wanted to see our "in-transit card." He thought we were
trying to pull a fast one. We showed him our room key for week one and the
key for week two. We were not allowed to board until general boarding began.
I'm glad we had our great time in Alaska as in-transit. I'm afraid that it
is gone forever.

My short answer to you is yes, you will probably have to go through customs,
but I hope you have some great cruises.

Yes. You will get off, go thru customs and go back into the embarkation
door. There they will escort you to a waiting area and when the ship is
cleared, you'll get back on. Takes 30-45 minutes. This is what we did a few
months ago.

About 8 years ago we didn't have to on Princess but that all may have
changed. They even had a special meeting for those passengers who were
doing back to back cruises.

I've done this three times on Carnival. After everyone is off the ship,
you will be asked to meet at the pursors desk. They will walk you off
the ship, through immigaration, and you will be back on in five minutes.

Okay, now, when this happens do you keep your stuff in your cabin or do you
have to hump the luggage to clear customs in addition to immigration? So, you
just go through immigration, come back on and then sit around and watch
everyone work feverishly to get ready for the next boarding?(g).

You definitely do not have to bring any of your luggage off the ship.
If you are staying in the same cabin, you can just leave it there. If
you are changing cabins, you can move your luggage after you get back on
the ship. You do not go through customs, just immigration. The whole
process could not be easier.

Thanks I had never considered that as a possibility until this came up in
conversation. Now all I have to do is (1)find two weeks in a row I can get
off) (2) find a ship on two alternating itineraries...
The latter should be substantially easier than the former..

Default Back To Back Cruise

On my back to back with Carnival I kept the same Cabin so no
packing/unpacking. Very nice. Yes we did have to get off the ship and
touch US soil. We were the last ones to get off the ship....In bathing
suits as we just hung out on the pool deck catching rays . We breezed
thru customs as we had nothing to declare. Carnival had given us a
letter to show at Check-in which takes you to the head of the line.
Then its off to get your new keys and sit and wait for the escort back
on to the ship. You will re-board before the new passengers do. I
think the entire process only took 45 mins until we were back in our
cabin (just checking our new keys). Oh, the best part....being first on
line for lunch and no waiting. Also the looks we got just lounging at
the pool in the morning while everyone is hauling luggage around waiting
for clearance. Then the looks again with the escort back on the ship.
It was funny and I enjoyed it.
