"jtc" wrote in message hlink.net... Thanks for the very good suggestions...how about some good seafood restaurants to eat at We ate recently at Anthony's on the waterfront. That's okay. (Though the miniscule amount of crab in my $11.95 appetizer was criminal.) If you have a car, you can drive to Ray's Boathouse at Shilshole (still in the city, just west of Ballard). Actually it's hard to avoid seafood in Seattle, especially salmon. The important thing is to get wild salmon, preferably from Alaska. Other sights: the downtown Art Museum, the Underground Tour, assorted parks. The arboretum should be nice in October. You can walk around Greenlake. Downtown you might want to do take-out in the Freeway Park--weather permitting. Or get sandwiches at Salumi and eat in the Waterfall Park. Walking on the ferry to Bainbridge Island/Winslow and walking around downtown Winslow is nice. The whole island is much too big to walk around in an afternoon. With a car you can drive to neighborhoods like Alki Beach and West Seattle, out Madison to Madrona on Lake Washington, across 520 to downtown Kirkland. This gives you a better idea of what it's like to live in (greater) Seattle--which I think is more fun than visiting. Marianne |
