According to Richard :
We are proposing to fly into Whitehorse in early September and drive
up to Dawson and back, possibly down as far as Skagway in a week, and
spend the second week on Vancouver island.

Any tips on car rental, driving conditions, weather, accommodation and
especially wildlife/photography spots would be most welcome.

It should be quite different from little old Ireland!

You'll be well into autumn. Many tourist sites will have been
closed since mid August.

In the 2nd week of Sept 2004, the temps ranged from -9C to
15C. There was no rain.

I assume you know that it's 700 km from Dawson to Skagway.

That said, it's beautiful country. The Alaska Highway and
road to Skagway are fine. Dunno about Dawson.

There's a nice museum some distance up the Alaska Highway
towards Alaska.

Was on the road last week, its a good sealed highway and
by September most of the RV's and trailers will be long gone.
