I often visited the Oceanic when it sailed from New York. Where is this
lovely ship now? fred

Unfortunately I have sad news. *On Jan. 5, 2011 the Ministry of
Environment and Forests gave their approval for the PLATINUM II (ex
INDEPENDENCE, SEA LUCK I, OCEANIC INDEPENDENCE, OCEANIC) to be beached
at Alang's shipbreaking yard.

Ray can now see a year into the future :-)

Hi Ray i think he means the old Home lines Oceanic .She sailing at
this time as the Peace Boat .She was just back in NYC for the first
time since 1985 this past summer .She had a leak and had to be dyed
dock at Bayonne . She"s also one of the last Steamships .

I do recall. She is bypassing the US for now since the USCG have
given them trouble in the past. What color was she dyed in
Bayonne? :+)

"dyed dock" was that by Clarol, L'Oriel, or ??? ;-)
