Hmmm, the imagination boggles. At what school, may I ask, did you learn your English grammar? Don't mean to be bitchy, but just couldn't let this one slip by. P |

There are many small local papers, plus free papers supported by advertising, plus small town and village papers. The big ones are owned by owned by Murdock, Fairfax or Packer (you'll see some similarity in web-pages): Brisbane http://www.couriermail.news.com.au/ and also: Gold Coast http://www.gcbulletin.com.au/ The Australian http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/ Canberra http://canberra.yourguide.com.au/home.asp Sydney http://www.smh.com.au/ Melbourne http://www.theage.com.au/ http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/ Adelaide http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/ Hobart http://www.themercury.news.com.au/ Cheers, Alan, Australia |

The Courier Mail - is the only major daily published in Brisbane.
There are a series of weekly papers - Chronicles, published in Brisbane and featuring various areas - e.g. The Northern Chronicle serves the Northern suburbs. The Australian and Australian Financial Review are both national daily papers, published in Sydney, but printed in Brisbane and available for early morning - over the front fence - delivery. I hope you enjoy your time here. You may notice that Aussies generally have a focus on the entire world, not just focus in news within its boundaries. |

I find your attitude very curious. One would think that correct grammar is critical for a someone who aspires to be a professional communicator. Also, journalists set high standards for those people/organisations they investigate. Isn't it somewhat hypocritical then for a journalist - or journalism student - to disregard accepted standards of written communication? |
