Are you restricted to Whittier or are you open to surrounding areas? Check
out the Los Angeles board on www.chowhound.com

Go to Pico Rivera - the Dal Rae for amazing old-style food & service
you haven't seen on menus for years - Steak Diane, Veal Oscar, Lobster
Thermidor, etc etc. Other than that, this area is pretty much a food
wasteland if you're looking for an upscale dining experience. Check
out the LA board on Chowhound.com & you might get some more
suggestions.

P.S. If you want to get a little more exotic, there's excellent
Burmese at the Golden Triangle in Whittier & wonderful Thai at Renu
Nakorn in Norwalk.

It's not Italian and probably doesn't serve steak but it is American.
We were pleased with the quality, quantity, and price at Los Siete
Mares on Whittier's main drag.

Ended up here - expensive but the food was really outstanding. As you said,
old style setting and service. Tableside Caesar salad, etc.

Thanks for the info!
