Krabi report
Traminer wrote:
This is a follow up to some queries about Krabi now. SNIP The beach is nowhere spectacular. If you want the convenience of having a beach at your doorstep, go to Tonsai or Railey Beach. But expect to get drenched by the sea when transferring between the airport and your hotel as these beaches are only assessible by boats. These beaches are spectacular (complete with topless swedes), along to Phang Nga Beach. Phang Nga Beach? You mean Phra Nang beach which literally means Princess¨ Beach. Phanga Nga is a province much further to the north beyond Phuket. Food/Shopping - No good local Thai food in Ao Nang (you do NOT use ketchup to make Pad Thai). Good low season and decent bargains for Italian food at Rialto at 100 bh for any pizza, 110 bh for any pasta. For good local thai, go down to Krabi town. I am 100 percent with you on that one. Check out the night market close to the ferry pier at the river for some of the best, varied and very inexpensive dishes. Make room for pirated CDs and DVDs in Ao Nang drag. Anything else is a total rip-off. So if you're going to Krabi right now.. pack your umbrellas and bring lots of reading material or a playmate. Cheers Michael Christoffersen |
