Default Same itinerary twice?

I've sailed to Bermuda a few times but nearly each time was on a
different ship. Unlike others who have responded saying that the ship
is less a factor for this itinerary, I found that overall the best
cruises to Bermuda that I had were 2 aboard (old)Pacific Princess. The
combination of her size, crew and that she hit all three ports added a
dimension to the cruise that was unmatched by Zenith or Explorer of
the Seas (the other ships I took to there). I suppose I'm recommending
that for Bermuda - the smaller the ship, the better the experience.

I did s/s Norway's eastern caribe itinerary countless times. And if
she still existed and was doing the run I would choose her over any
other ship for that itinerary.

I enjoyed my Pacific coastal cruise so much that a year later I
repeated it on a longer repositioning cruise that included a full week
in Alaska. I'd repeat Alaska in a heartbeat. Second runner-up for a
repeat would be the Norwegian Fjords, but again, I 'd take a longer
version that would go up to the North Cape next time. When you
experience the surreal beauty of Norway it is tempting to say there's
nothing left to see that can top it...until you sail to Alaska.

For a nice getaway from New York in late summer/early autumn, nothing
beats a cruise to Canada. I've done this one a few times as well.
There's something very different about the seas and sea-air sailing
north from New York that captivates me more than sailing toward the
tropics. I love how you can depart from a hot muggy New York and
within several hours the sea air is crisp and cool, the water looks
cold and you need to bundle up on deck!

I love transatlantics and try to plan one every 3 to 4 years. The next
one booked is this November. Cruise lines seem to be trending their
itineraries with fewer days at sea (I suppose to reduce fuel costs).
So every few years I need a transat that takes me out to sea for an
entire week. The pace is slower - if you don't get around to something
aboard ship today there's always tomorrow or the next day or the next
day or the.... (and on westbound crossings you get an extra hour of
sleep nearly every day as the clock is reset backwards).

Two itineraries I doubt I'll go out of my way to repeat is western
caribe and the 7 day Mexican Riviera itineraries out of California. I
would only do them as part of a full Panama Canal transit.

I suspect that another region of cruises I'll want to explore further
is the eastern Med and Black Sea after my upcoming Solstice to Greece.

Default Same itinerary twice? Why Not!

I have taken the same cruise on the same cruise line many times.

As they say on Royal Caribbean-Why Not?

If you liked it the first time you may even like it again and again!

Cruising is like making love. The first time is great, but if you do it
right, it just keeps on getting better!

We live in Vancouver and have done the Alaska Inside passage a number times.
We get great last minute deals, example May 24 Mercury, $326 Canadian return
plus taxes, can't get a hotel and the 5 meals a day for that price.

Default Same itinerary twice?

Paul,

That is a very good question, and obviously one that brought some
interesting responses. In the case of my wife Deborah and myself, while
variety is our desired goal, doing the same itinerary, even on the same
ship, is not a negative to us at all. For example, we have been to Puerto
Rico twice, St. Thomas twice, St. Maarten twice, the Mexican Riviera twice,
a Disney cruise twice (one with Disney Cruise Line and one with Premier),
and both Ensenada and Catalina Island so many times, that we lost count. And
this is just what we can remember off the top of our heads.

It is not just the concept of making the most out of it for us; for in any
destination we simply do something different than we did before. In any
particular port, we just visit different places, take different shore
excursions, explore different stores, shops, restaurants, museums, etc. In
other words, at least to us, just because we have been to a particular port
or destination once, does not mean that we have seen everything and done it
all - actually, far from it.

I have personally lived in Huntington Beach since 1958, but even so, that
does not mean I have seen and done everything there is to do in my own town.
As another example, we both have Premium Passports to the Disneyland Resort,
so we can go back over and over again. In fact, in relation to a cruise,
there has been times when we enjoyed a particular place in a repeat port so
much that we simply wanted to do the same thing again.

Happy sailing...

Has anyone ever done the same cruise twice?

I just booked a family cruise (4 of us) on the Norwegian Dawn to Bermuda.

My wife and I did the same trip in the spring of '08.

We wanted to cruise this year but just couldn't find the right ship or
itinerary so we just decided to do our favorite again.

So, have you ever done the same trip/ship twice? where and why?

Paul

Tom, if its any consolation, I loved the Baltic cruise, even better than
Alaska.
