yeah but how many know that Turkey charge UK citizens a higher visa feel
than
other citizens of the EU? :-) They even have a separate queue for Brits at
immigration.

Are you kidding? I would have seen this queue in the airports of Istanbul,
Izmir or Antalya. As a German you do not need a visa, only your identiy card
or your passport, and Germany is in the same EU as Great Britain.

Rejection of Turkey's application is not racially motivated, it's
simply because Turkey does not meet basic standards of respect for
human rights and international law.
Like Bulgaria?
Confucius, he say "two rong not make a right".
Taiwan hasn't applied for EU membership - yet,
Just a matter of time - after all, Israel are in the Eurovision Song
Contest.

North African countries, Jordan and the Lebanon are eligible to apply
too.

Why EU? let's call it Roman Empire.

grin I like that. A lot... ^_^

And it would certainly fit the way the thing is run - a mostly
powerless senate (the Parliament) pretty much under the thumb of
a ruthless Imperial family (the Commission)...

All we'd need then is a Cassius Chaerea... ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

I do not think this will endanger Turkey's EU ambitions, but many
hotel-keepers might like to give the boy and the girl a decent spanking, not
to mention the judge who put the boy behind bars.

Any families with not-so-young children who look for a different place to go
on holiday?

spanking might be misconstrued.....

That's the public reason for rejecting their application, not the
actual one.

After the 2004 election, a lot of us were wondering if New York could
join.

Why EU? let's call it Roman Empire.

Are you going to kick out the Scots and Scandinavians?

I was thinking the same thing!

I tried to thought of east European countries but I am not certain which ones
the Roman's conquered. I take it Rumania was part of the Roman Empire but
Hungary probabl;y wasn't.

The Roman Empire's borders ran through present-day Romania and
Hungary. Budapest was founded as a Roman city called Aquincum.

Eurovision is - as I'm sure you know - an association of some major Euro TV
stations, which is why it's called the /Eurovision/ Song Contest as opposed
to the /European/ Song contest. Any arguments as to whether non-European
countries should be allowed to take part should be addressed to the
programme director, ARD, Germany. :-)

I confess to ****-stirring :-)

Hmmm... what if both the boy and the girl were 13 and had sex? Who would
be arrested?

Would any of them file charges?

Are you getting the same weather as we are getting in NL and in UK,

Erick?

Nope. They have different weather for us.
Today, I bought a new snowmobile.

The parents might do so. What would happen in such a case?
