I am not.

from way back as are most Communists.

I am not a communist.

I can't imagine anyone taking your words seriously.

I am not surprised. You are too stupid for that.

From the readings of this thread, I have come to a conclusion:

There are mainly two groups of people: one consists of people who are
deluded and/or utterly stupid and the other group consists of those who can
think for themselves. The former group represents Bush supporters.

I rest my case!

Like you yankees love the say:"have a ****ed up day!".

Wrong. Try the two biggest, Germany and France for starters and add a
recession to the mix as well.

Not quite so:

While some countries do have consistent double digit unemployment
(Spain is one) the large majority doesn't. Some do in fact have it
consistently lower than 5%. There's too much diversity in Europe. You
can't just say "Europe is this, Europe is that". That shows ignorance
of the diversity factors.

2. their economies are in constant doldrums

Nonsense. Try again.

See Germany and recession. Biggest economy in Europe. Check out
their failing banks as well while you are at it.

This is clearly a very bad argument. There is in all economies growth
and recessive cycles. You have picked a recessive cycle in Germany to
demonstrate that the European economies are "in constant doldrums".
Like the other guy said before that is nonsense. And this argument of
yours can be easily used against you in the next recessive period in
the US. I hope this will take a long time to happen again though.

4. longer working hours means a healthier economy.

Nonsense.

Sure, that's why the US economy consistenly outperforms the Europeans
ones almost without exception. Single digit unemployment, low
inflation, etc. Hardly the case in Europe except for liars like you.

Longer working hours means worse quality of life. That's something
taken very seriously over here.

As for the single digit unemployment, low inflation, growth, how many
European examples would you like?

A lot longer than cowards like you can stand that's for sure. And the
last poll taken in Iraq (unlike the completely unsupported propaganda
put out by twits like you) showed 68% of Iraqis supported the US
effort.

I wonder who might have developed this poll :-)

Yeah very wise. It leaves these the kids the alternative of foregoing
their religious faith, going to private (read Catholic) schools or
leaving school. An option only an European could love. They call
this democracy?

There's a big difference between having religious faith and showing
that faith in the public schools. I'm not saying I agree with the
hairscarves affair in France. However out of the millions of muslim
chieldren in France, I don't know of any case they are unable to go to
school for the fact of having their own religious faith.

There is a difference between state sponsored religion in school and the
right of religious freedom while attending a state sponsored school. I
really doubr the French would stop someone from wearing a cross to
school, but the moslems are fair game, I guess.

Perhaps you should do your homework before indulging in unwarranted
speculations.

That report out of France has recommended that *both* small crosses and
small equivalent Muslim symbols (what is it, Fatima's hand?) should be
allowed in schools.

There is also a difference between having school and curricula which is
secular, and prohibiting students from dressing as they wish.

And if they do pass that law in France, it isn't only head scarves and jewish
hats that would be banned, but also, technically, christmas trees, easter eggs
and anything related to christian festivities. Will christmas holidays be
banned from schools because they are not religion-neutral ?

There is a subtle advantage to those ban though. Students, as young ones, will
get used to spending time without their religious gear. Once adyults, they may
decide that it isn't really so bad to be without it.

The problem with anti-discrimination laws combined with immigration is that
they can change the face of a country when immigrants , instead of adapting to
their new home's customs and culture, continue to live according to their
former home. The proposed french law is essentially an attempt at finding some
legal loophole that would allow the french government to find a way to force
immigrants from middle east to adapt to French culture and customs.

I didn't say I was for that law.

Among other factors that is the biggest one. In one word, integration.

This is obviously true, but you've got to feel sorry for Sjoerd. He has
been brainwashed by European mass media and reduced to regurgitating
the same old lies about America that he gets from newspapers and TV.
On the other hand, having been to America, he is aware of the
truth at some level, which is why he is so desperately envious of
American freedom and quality of life. The result is his peculiar
love-hate relationship with America, half jealousy, half resentment.
Quite amusing to watch, really.

It's a very long period then, because Germany has been in the doldrums
for several years (though not as long as Japan). European growth
overall has been much lower than in the US over more than the last
decade. Ours last 1 to 2 years at the most. Hardly comparable.

Your lack of productivity and a low work ethic are, among other
reasons, why European countries can't begin to pay for their pensions,
which are being cut all over the place. You call that a better
quality of life? Then tell me why all those French and Italians are
demonstrating against the cuts then? You think there is a free lunch?

As for the single digit unemployment, low inflation, growth, how many
European examples would you like?

Give us all the ones that have averaged less than the US rate over the
last decade.

then go read about what is going on right now in France. This edict
is very clear: get rid of your scarf or stay out of school. Period.
This is a classic case of the French treating unequal cases equally
then trying to pontificate about equality. What Catholics wear
scarves as part of their religion. You must not read. This case has
been all over the news and was started about two young girls trying to
wear their scarves.
