Default Palm Springs Cal. Vacation

We are planning a Jan-Feb-Mar vacation in Palm Springs, California.
Any tips or suggestions for interesting things to do, places to visit,
recommended Mom-and Pop restaurants, will be appreciated.
I'm taking my new digital camera, and would be interested in
photogenic locations.
Thanks
Mark

Lots of old people playing golf. Interesting things to do include the
tram up the mountain (if you like hiking, go for a day hike), Desert
Museum, Joshua Tree NP (more hiking).

The Manhattan Deli & Sherman Deli are both very good. There's some
great hikes out Tahquitz Canyon that would be great for photography.
If you get over to Palm Desert, Romitti's restaurant has excellent
reasonably priced Italian food - very mom & pop & very good.

There's The Living Desert in Palm Desert. It's sort of a zoo and
botanical garden, with a large area for hiking connected to it. Lots of
desert parks.

Hadley's ( http://www.hadleyfruitorchards.com/ ) off of I-10. Buy some
fruit, or nuts, or ostrich eggs and drink a date shake or just roam the
aisles and try the free samples.

There are plenty of photogenic locations in Joshua Tree that require
minimal or no hiking. Of course, there are plenty more for the
ambitious and energetic.

If you're going to have a car (pretty much a "must") you might want to drive
a bit west to Cabazon and check out the Wheel Inn ... it's been featured by
Jane and Michael Stern's "Roadfood." It's the place with the giant dinosaur
from "Pee Wee's Big Adventure." Last I heard they were serving Czech food.
Go figure.

There's also a huge Indian casino (Morongo) there, as well as two outlet
malls.
