Here, it's more of an annoyance. Hardly any shops open. I'm surprised
they still have this law here, given that so few Britons celebrate
Easter religiously, etc.

That's too bad, our parish church was filled on Holy Thursday, Good Friday,
Holy Saturday Vigil Mass and today on Easter Sunday, there was hardly any
standing room. Despite the heavy thunderstorms we had on Saturday night,
there were many who still attended.
Most places were closed on Good Friday, including the schools...Today, I
noticed restaurants open as many families go out to eat.

Good Friday is a public holiday here, as is tomorrow. Nice for a long
weekend I suppose- that's why we went to Venice, where many others
seemed to have the same idea!

I'm celebrating by eating a hot breakfast, hiding colorful eggs in the
garden and crucifying a Jew. I love Easter!

It may be an annoyance to David but, as always, he speaks only for himself.

That's a given, but on this particular issue I was commenting on a clear
societal trend as well. I suspect that Easter closing will eventually go
away and become just another bank holiday weekend. I certainly don't
speak for myself when I suggest that few Britons celebrate the holiday
religiously. As only 1.5 million people in the UK actually go to church
over the Easter weekend, it's patently no longer a holiday with any
significance here.

Keep your religious stuff to yourself, you taliban

Perhaps you ought to look *taliban* up in a dictionary, before you call
anyone by that name.
Scrooge still lives, apparently.
Bah Humbug to you, too!

Pay no mind to scRunge, he is bitter, lonely, and desperately
unhappy...poor thing!

During Christmas a poster here did a parody of _A Christmas Carol_
using posters from this group as the characters. Guess who got the
role of Scrooge...???

If anyone needs blessings (from whatever source) it is
certainly YOU, you miserable SOB! I'm not particularly
religious, but I respect the beliefs of those who are (so
long as they don't try to force me to believe as they do).
Take it in the spirit meant, and if you can't respond in
kind, don't bother to reply at all! (reP-L-O-N-K!)

Poor scRunge! He is like the bad little school boy who is forced to
wear a dunce cap and stand in the corner...!!!

Nah he is proud of his cap. His mother gave it to him after it sprang a leak.

Didn't the same thing happen with J'aqcueloon's Dutch Cap...???
