Default Sao Tome to Accra, Ghana

I am helping a colleague from Sao Tome attend a scientific meeting in
Accra, Ghana. I am wondering if anyone can offer advice on how to
travel. We would like to avoid having to fly from Sao Tome -- Lisbon
-- Heathrow -- Accra.

There are flights from Sao Tome to Libreville, Gabon. Are there any
flights from Libreville to Lagos or Abidjan?

If possible we would like to avoid having to connect in Europe due to
time and expense.
thanks for any help.

p.s. Perhaps I am being stupid here, but does anyone know of any boat
travel options? The countries are physically so close.

I found Hooterville to Pixley, but that is only by train.
It's not nonstop. You must stop at the junction, Petticoat Junction.
The last one left around 1970, I think.
