Default Train Venice to Vienna

It's actually impossible this reservation by Web.
Trenitalia (the italian railways) let only Italy to Italy bookings through
the web site.

Decide if you need Vienna West station or Sud station then, when in Italy
buy the ticket directly in the first city you are. For that time of the year
you shouldn't get problems with your reservation even 2 hours before...

Does anyone have any helpful hints on how I can book an overnight train
from Venice to Vienna? We can find online the train we want to book for

the
night of the 16th of April but have not been able to find anywhere to book

Hmm, https://ticket.oebb.at/bin/italy.pl?FPLFILE= (only in German) offers online
booking for this train, but an online ticket from Italy to Austria can only be
booked as part of a return ticket Austria - Italy - Austria.

Thanks for the reply. Our introduction to Italy will be
when we drive from Monte Carlo around to Genova. Will we
be able to book this in Genova

Yes.

(or perhaps even a smaller
town along the way)?

If there is an international ticket office at the station: Yes.

Maybe it's also possible to buy the ticket in Monte Carlo.
It should be no problem to book Venezia Santa Lucia - Wien Westbahnhof in Nice
at the station (or at any other big station in France).

Yes, you can book, and buy the ticket from every rail station in Italy.

I don't suggest to buy it in France or Monaco i suspect will be charged with
an extra price for the reservation from outside. If you have time just take
it in Italy.

You can try to call the night train booking center of DB (German Rail)
+49 1805 14 15 14
You can also ask if there are any SparNight tickets for this route
available.
They start from EUR 29,- seated. Nice is e.g. an economy double sleeper
which is with the SparNight ticket EUR 69,- pp.
