India: Ooty, Darjeeling or Shimla
I wish to spend about 18 days at some hill stations in India. What is
the best alternative out of Shimla, Darjeeling and Ooty? |

They are miles apart, basicly three different corners of India, I would choose between Darj and Ooty. Darj has UN Heritage train, one of a kind, no tunnels, but switchbacks, once there, the place has mountain aura,Tibetan culture, Kanchenchonga view, heavy trekking possible. Ooty or Coonor have nice very old rack/pinion driven train, lot of tunnels, bridges. The upper plain are rolling hills, tea plantations, easy hiking, nice flora not as cold as Darjelling. Frank |

Better try Kodaikanal in Tamilnadu instead of Ooty.
