Default Ontario boating

I'm considering renting a houseboat for a week in summer or fall 2004
either on St. Lawrence River or Rideau Lake/Canal. Can someone share
their knowledge about which of these two waterways is preferable?
Also, anyone with first-hand knowledge about which houseboat rental
outfits are the best to rent from, on either the Rideau or St.
Lawrence. Thank you.

Dont forget the Trent Severn canal either. 386km with about 45 locks
from Trenton and the beautiful Bay of Quinte off Lake Ontario in the
South up to the near north around Georgian Bay and the 30000 islands.
You cant beat those lift locks for novelty value, not to mention the Big
Chute marine railway. Should be great fall colours before and
around(canadian) thanksgiving. Give me a wave on the way into lock 7!

see

or

http://www.ftsw.com/

there are more links from this site to rental companies etc.

Enjoy

The ST. Lawrence is a heavy shipping lane, so I would strike that right off
the list. Take a look at the Trent Severn - probably a better choice than
the Rideau.

Glen Ross is very pretty. We sit and watch the rented houseboats try
to maneuver at lock 28 (Burleigh Falls) In any kind of wind it is
quite entertaining.

Yes, try the Trent; wave to the guy in the blue Ebbtide bowrider, I'll
be watching for you too.

Be sure to check the hours and schedule of Lock operations on the
canal during the period you are coming. They get reduced in the fall.

Great site about the Trent

Here are some rental links you can try. I don't know which is best,
though.
