Do you rent the dresses and the wigs or do you just do the make up? What do I do once I'm dressed like that? Do I have to be invited to a party or can I just walk around the city?? I don't want to be Miss Luglio but maybe Maggio... I was going to ask the same question, We are going to visit Venice again for the 2004 Carnival. Also, do men dress up as well.

I thought the city paid them to pose with tourists, but maybe there are lots of people who just do it for the fun. There are lots of people, but in Venice it's easy to get off the beaten track and find quiet spots, where you will also see people in costumes. The festivities are a bit spread out over the city. We went once on the weekend of the beginning of Carival. It begins on a Sunday, but already Saturday there was a lot to see and fewer crowds.
