Malaria tablets alergy - trip to Sri Lanka
My girlfriend has just found that the reason she's feeling ill is due to
an alergy to Maleria tablets so she can't take them. We leave in 3 days - Thursday 20th to Kosgoda beach which is south of Colombo in Sir Lanka. The GP doesn't think there is much choice with Maleria tablets. The only other ones she could subscribe were more powerfull and would cause more problems. But she thought we'd be OK as long as we didn't go further north than Colombo (which I think rules out Kandy - I'll have to check a map). Any advice? Peter -- http://www.beluga.freeserve.co.uk |

Malaria tablets alergy - trip to Sri Lanka
Hmmm - found this -
http://www.malariajournal.com/content/2/1/22 with a nice map. Anyone got advice on how to avoid it? Presumably long sleeves and trousers have got to be a good plan. What else? -- http://www.beluga.freeserve.co.uk |

I've taken malaria tablets 3 times in Goa and hardly seen a mozzie. Wear repellent from dusk onwards, and get some scented smoke repellent sticks for your balcony/patio etc. Restaurants will have them anyway. |

Malaria tablets alergy - trip to Sri Lanka
I have worked in colombo and been to the south many times. In the hotel, ask
them for mosquito nets. If you arre going south, check out the hotel call Light house hotel, at Galle, expensive but worth a visit. "Chris" wrote in message ... "Peter Smithson" wrote in message ... Malaria tablets alergy - trip to Sri Lanka
Thanks for the advice.
As a follow up. Her GP got in touch with the tropical diseases facility in London and recommended another tablet. Interestingly, she's the first person they've heard of with this allergy who's white! I'm now teasing her and asking her why she didn't tell me she's black as it's quite a shock. ;-) In article , "GT Tan" iscs @singnet.com.sg says...
