Help -- Montreal hotel
We're going to Montreal for a wedding that just happens to be at the
same time as the Just for Laughs Festival. For us, it's great timing! We've been looking for budget type hotels and found a few in the area now called the Latin Quarter -- along rue St. Denis and rue St. Hubert. We're not kids -- nope -- young at heart and in mind, but not by the calendar. So, I'm asking ......... Are these safe neighhbourhoods for walking at night? My impression is that they will be lively, filled with little shops, restaurants and cafes. Sounds good to me, but I just wanted to check it out. Next question: How do I get tickets for the Festival? Their Web site gives information from last year -- 2004! Your help and advice would be so appreciated! Thanks. Judy ================================================== ============= Judy Heuman |

Sounds good to me, but I just wanted to check it out. It might be noisy (St-Denis St) but it is safe. This area is a usual hangout for young punks and other kinds of homeless people but as far as I know, they just ask for money and they usually are not agressive. How do I get tickets for the Festival? Their Web site gives information from last year -- 2004! Have a look at the same web site from time to time. My guess is this year scheduled has not been announced yet. -- Michel Talbot Montreal Formula One Photo Database: http://www.F1Pics.net |

Punks and homeless people are easily found down those streets around Sainte Catherine or de Maisonneuve, though they're there all the time, not only at night but I've never had any problems with any of them at any time. It's not an area I'd seek out if I was looking for a leisurely stroll at 2am but it's perfectly safe to cross by foot in order to get from one place to another. My impression is that they will be lively, filled with little shops, restaurants and cafes. Sounds good to me, but I just wanted to check it out. Yes, that sounds pretty accurate. How do I get tickets for the Festival? Their Web site gives information from last year -- 2004! Then I'd imagine this year's info hasn't been announced yet. Another couple websites to keep an eye on are http://www.admission.com/ and http://www.ticketpro.ca/ which are the two main ticket sales networks for concerts, sporting events, etc. in Montreal. One of them would likely have information once it becomes available. Richard |
