Tipping for fishing

Hi -

We're doing a one day fishing trip with someone out of Ft Myers FL
this Christmas. My question is do I tip the captain of the ship???

We are a private charter with him and he's the only one on deck. e.g.
In the past I've done group fishing excursions where you were supposed
to tip the kid who cut up the chum and cleaned your fish. Now this
trip it's just the captain but he'll be cleaning our fish???

Do I tip him - is it rude - and if so how much ???

Is he the owner? Do you book thru a company? If so ask the person you book
with.

Hmmmm. Borderline case. Who are you actually paying? If you
are paying him directly, it is probably unnecessary. If he is
an employee of a charter line, you might. i.e. if he "owns" the boat
you typically wouldn't tip him. But if he is hired by the
boat so to speak, considering the other services you apparently
expect him to render, tipping is probably appropriate.
