Default Sydney to Tokyo question

American, never been to Japan, thinking of flying up on JetStar to
Tokyo but can barely spend three days there. Is this worth the long
flight? Looking to eat in some great restaurants, see some local
sites, stay at a nice place. Know no Japanese, nor have a guide.
Advice? Other option is Honolulu, where I have been and it's easy. Or
Maybe NZ, south Island.

Long ride but you don't have the time zone's beating you up. Tokyo is a
very easy city; no matter your tastes, plenty to do and see. s

Tokyo is a very special place:

But it's an 8000km flight from Sydney (9-10 hours), so you think about
whether you want to spend so much time on the plane for so little time
in Tokyo. Honolulu is even further away from Sydney.
