Default Lodgings in Bangkok -seeking advice

Hi everybody,

So I might be in Bangkok for a couple of days this winter, and I'll be
travelling on a semi-low budget.

Last year I stayed in a fleabag dump of a hotel on Khao San Road, and now
that I've got that out of the way I was wondering what the next logical move
would be. Don't get me wrong, I'm not denigrating the whole backpacker thing
there, but are there any centrally-located, funky, "up and coming" districts
of Bangkok that would also be worth checking out? In terms of finding
reasonably-priced accomodations, I mean?

Just curious,
Sean Jordan

Dear Sean,
we use to stay at First House Hotel, when in Bangkok.
It is in the Pratunam area, which is actually a very good market place.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the World Trade Center and a double room
with A/C, bathroom and breakfast is around 800 Baht, tax included.
You can take a look at it he
