Jeez, it's like trying to throw a durian...

Those things don't even have to explode. The smell alone can kill!

I ate some on a dare one time- they say the taste is completely different
from the smell.
Lying ****ing durian-peddlers.

Chas

You really DO have to get them at the 'exact' point of ripeness. The
pods inside need to be the consistency of soft ice cream. THEN the
taste is good. Not great, but good. And there is very little smell. It
is only the outer shell that really has the intense smell, although
the inner pods to retain some. But the taste, if eaten at the right
time, is nothing like the smell. When we do buy them, we purchase them
in the supermarket, already taken out of the outer shell, in
shrinkwrap so we can feel the texture. Much less smell that way, but
they are still easy to locate in the market.

It's illegal to bring them onto buses or trains in Singapore, most
cities in Malaysia and Thailand, and almost every hotel has big signs
telling guests not to bring them into the hotels. $500 fine for doing
so in S'pore! (That may have been reduced recently to $300.)

Personally, I can take it or leave it. I prefer mangosteens and
Emperor Lychee over all other fruit. Mangos follow, then rambutan and
lamyai (I can't remember the English name...) At durian markets, you
will see many people, all with their own 'secrete method' of selecting
a durian at its peek. Also remember that durian from Malaysia taste
differently from during from Indonesia or Thailand, and vice versa.
However, they ALL stink to high heavens!

Say Hey Stevie:

You are so full of ****! There is no law in Thailand stating that one
cannot bring durian on a bus/train/aircraft. You really have these
knifie boys bulls***t.

5555 Yee-Hsw !!
