Default How many hotel reservations do you make?

Hi folks,

All the travel websites offer similar kind of hotel search and
reservation services. But they are not comfortable to use. Ii is
dificult to find exact location or hotel. All the websites are mainly
for US users. Why? For example expedia.com, hotels.com ect. At first I
do want to know where I'm gonna stay. Then I (maybe) would like to see
if there are rooms available and make on-line reservation. From the
main page it seems that there is no other countries. Only few bigger
cities.

How many of you are using on-line travel reservations? And what is
your opinion?

Here is one catalogue style: http://www.lodgingbook.com

Thanks,
Aimar

Hi:

Personally, I rarely reserve a room in advance. Just about anywhere
I've traveled in the world, I've been able to arrive in town without
reservations and arrange accomodations. Airports, train stations, and
travel info booths usually have some sort of room finding service, or
even better, you can use a trustworthy guidebook and call/visit
yourself. Failing that, you can usually go to a lodging-heavy area
and just walk around, checking out several rooms and picking one that
suits your fancy/budget.

However, I understand that this is not always the most reassuring way
to travel, especially if:

a. It's high season for tourism;
b. You have a very limited amount of time.

In that case, I would probably book in advance.

This was the case recently when I traveled to London. I booked a
package through Expedia.com, and the hotel was as advertised.
Further, the fee I paid covered all charges, despite the fine print
stating that incidentals and local fees were not included. To my
delight, when I turned in my key at checkout, I was given a smile and
a thank you and waved on my way, no extra charges.

Anyway, to summarize, my one online reservation experience with
Expedia happened to be a pretty good one.
