Default Need for a Tour Leader in Paris France Be Welcome.

Hi, My name is Pierre But Peter is Fine.
I did visit Montmartre this afternoon, and it
was full of visitors from abroad as i never saw before.
I'm a Parisian, but unfortunatly right now i'm unemployed.
I'm used of tourists for being working in travel
agency before. If you are private travellers or an agency
i'd be please to work for you as correspondant and guide.
I can pick you up at the airport, make booking for transportation,
find a good restaurant or hotel, tell you where to go according
what you want and make you avoid touristic trap and pickpocket.
I know also the history of my city and if you need a car with a driver
(me) or a bus for a group up to nine person, i can also do that.
I'm friendly and dynamic and i would make your stay in France a real
pleasure. Of course i would have to charge you as normal day of work in
France but i'm sure you understand that.
rec.travel.europe is maybe not the right place for a job,
if the case don't call me by bird or any animals names.
I'm sure plenty of you would like to optimize their stay in France.
Merci et à Bientôt.

Ok Nick,
What i would say is this,
I have noticed that many people mostly from North America wouldn't
dare to come by themself in France. They can't speak a word in French,
They have wrong idea about who French are, some of them believe French
are nasty, mean, don't bathe and smell cheese...
Because of their history and also because Paris is the root of
their civilisation, not being there once is ignoring their own culture.
Many would come, if they knew someone would take care of them.

So i propose the following menu and you can choose what you want.

1- Appetizer .
I can pick you up at the airport, and
tranfert you right to your hotel, i would provide you map of Paris,
bus and subway tickets, all explanations for you not to be lost when
you arrive jetlited. If it's the first time you come in Europe, I
would make you win a lot of time and money, and i would provide you the
minimun language to get along in Paris by yourself. For this minimum kit i
would charge you 50 euros from CDG airport or 45 from Orly or 40 from any
train station, whish does not include the price for tickets in public
transportation (cheap).

2- Entrance.
You want one day of visit in Paris, i can make you visit the major places
you must see, including Notre-Dame, Louvre, Concorde, Eiffel Tower and
Sacre Coeur. We would take the best way of transportation to make you
enjoy and not being exausted at the end of the day. I will also explain
you the history of each monument, the life of parisians, to be completly
enlightened. You can do it by yourself but your visit won't be
as interesting than being with a French man. Without meal and different
tickets i would charge you 65 euros for a short day.

3- Main Course.
You want the complete visit of Paris, with the monuments of the entrance
menu plus Bateaux Mouche, Luxembourg, Seine River, and best area in Latin
Quarter and Right bank river, I would charge you 85 euros for a long day
without tickets and meal.

4- Dessert
At your Choice Versailles, Vaux le Vicomte or Chantilly Castle, for the
two last we need to rent a car and a short day is fine. Same price as
entrance without car and meal.

5- Extra
We can go to Loire Vallée for the most beautifull castles
of Chenonceaux, the house of Leornard de Vinci and Chambord,
for 120 euros with car and meal in extra. A really long day is needed.

I'm a young man, i know well United Stades and Canada for being
in North America several times, I'm a really really safe driver,
I appreciate fun, and your trip will be unforgivable.

Contact me at for more details and booking.

The only thing you need to do now is learn English.

They do it all the time; but like most tourists, Americans tend to
travel in groups when given a choice. Groups of 2-5 are typical (for
people arranging their own trips).

They can't speak a word in French ...

They don't need any French in Paris.

They have wrong idea about who French are, some of them believe French
are nasty, mean, don't bathe and smell cheese...

Most of that isn't true, but some of it has a basis in fact,
particularly the hygiene part.

Because of their history and also because Paris is the root of
their civilisation, not being there once is ignoring their own culture.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

Many would come, if they knew someone would take care of them.

Many come whether someone "takes care" of them or not. They are
everywhere in Paris.

1- Appetizer .
I can pick you up at the airport, and
tranfert you right to your hotel ...

Are you insured in case of accident? Do you have a chauffeur's license?

... i would provide you map of Paris,
bus and subway tickets, all explanations for you not to be lost when
you arrive jetlited.

Jetlited?

If you are providing tickets, you're a travel agent, which requires a
license. Do you have one?

If it's the first time you come in Europe, I
would make you win a lot of time and money, and i would provide you the
minimun language to get along in Paris by yourself.

Your written English is terrible, and since most people speak far worse
than they write, I hate to imagine what your spoken English is like.

For this minimum kit i
would charge you 50 euros from CDG airport or 45 from Orly or 40 from any
train station, whish does not include the price for tickets in public
transportation (cheap).

So you're charging about the same as a taxi or shuttle driver ... minus
the license (?). Does this amount include or exclude the VAT that must
be paid?

2- Entrance.
You want one day of visit in Paris, i can make you visit the major places

tickets i would charge you 65 euros for a short day.

How long are short days? If you buy the tickets for clients, you're a
travel agent. If you speak as you write, it would be difficult to even
understand your explanations.

3- Main Course.
You want the complete visit of Paris, with the monuments of the entrance
menu plus Bateaux Mouche, Luxembourg, Seine River, and best area in Latin
Quarter and Right bank river, I would charge you 85 euros for a long day
without tickets and meal.

How long is a long day? Is this TTC or HT?

4- Dessert
At your Choice Versailles, Vaux le Vicomte or Chantilly Castle, for the
two last we need to rent a car and a short day is fine. Same price as
entrance without car and meal.

If you are renting a car and driving, we get back into that
insurance/licensing thing again.

I'm a young man, i know well United Stades and Canada for being
in North America several times, I'm a really really safe driver,
I appreciate fun, and your trip will be unforgivable.

Your English is really bad, though, and from your rates, I find myself
wondering how you manage to pay VAT, URSSAF, medical insurance, and
other costs of doing business while still having anything left.

Yes, but who knows, maybe some would like to pay that much to have a
complete railtour of the northern branch of RER B? Just imagine, two
tourists and a guide sitting in a rather filthy MI79 departing from
Roissy. The usual Easterner deaf beggar offers its keyhandler, followed
by the noisy pot-smoking kids. Guide discourses:

- This is Roissy Rail, built in 1974. As you can see, it has a major
design fault, it is not fitted with IPCS = Installations Permanentes de
Contre-Sens = Permanent Crossover Points, which allow for right-hand
running on a portion of track if an incident occurs, and avoid severe
disruptions.

- This is Villepinte, charming station. Recently here a young boy was
severely beaten by police (or transport police, the matter is unclear).
History is important to understand the city of light.

- This is Aulnay-sous-Bois. Well there is nothing that resembles a tree
within a mile, but...

- This is le Bourget. One of France's major sorting station. Oooooh look
at the neat car trains, there is a Citroën plant just behind! And
ooooooh, tank wagons! Innit wonderful?

- This is Stade-de-France, also known as Your-Tax-Money-Stadium!

- This is Gare du Nord underground station. Can you feel this
distinctive sweat and urine smell? And this so arty greasypaper-based
ground decoration?

Now that *IS* real tourism ;-)

I propose my service for those who could feel lost
in Paris when they arrived. Is maybe not your case.
And probably your French is excellent, so you don't
need my help, I can really understand that.
I don't pretend to be an English writer.
I'm not a taxi driver or a bus driver either.
I receive you as a guest, and then we take public transportations.
People appreciate not to be alone when they arrive in a
new country. That's my proposition.
I did travel a lot in my life, i have always appreciated when
someone local can help me in his country.
And it does not bother me to give him a contribution for
the time he spend with me.
About insurance, i suppose you've got your private one.
Usually when i travel i have international insurance.
I don't think taking the train or the bus could be a problem then,
or walking in the street with you.
What i mean by short or long day, is what you may understand,
it really depends on traffic or your own interest.
Short would be from 10AM to 5PM.
Long would be from 9AM until 7PM.
I'm not competiting Taxi, Agency or Organized tour.
Nothing at all, so if you belongs to those in Paris,
don't worry. I propose something new, that does not exist.
I make you feel at home, and share the knowlege i have of Paris
as a Parisian, or France as a French.

Bienvenue.
